A number of plant species have been introduced to Australia from other countries. Some made their way into the environment by accident. Most were introduced as garden plants, pasture grasses or other horticultural plants. Either way, many species thrived in our environment and soon spread out of control.
We use the word 'invasive' to describe these plants as they are able to spread quickly and are difficult to stop.
