The Environment Levy is funded by ratepayers. Council uses Environment Levy funds to undertake a range of programs, projects and initiatives to deliver environmental outcomes.

The Environment Levy is a key funding source that supports the delivery of the Environment and Liveability Strategy 2017 which seeks to guide decision-making and actions to maintain the liveability of the region.

Council’s Environment Levy assists in the delivery of the Strategy’s transformational actions through a range of projects, programs and initiatives that contribute to the preservation and enhancement of our biodiversity; waterways and wetlands and coastal areas.

The Environment Levy Program is developed in line with council’s adopted Environment Levy Strategic Policy[58KB] in working towards building a healthy and liveable Sunshine Coast.
