New employment opportunities and greater convenience for locals are among the benefits a soon-to-be-opened Yamaha Marine and Waverunner dealership will deliver for the Sunshine Coast.

Economic Development Portfolio Councillor Stephen Robinson said the new workshop and showroom at Warana would generate significant economic and community positives.

“Independent economic impact reports estimate that this new dealership will support the economy by up to $4.3 million per year and generate 18 ongoing local jobs,” Cr Robinson said.

“From a convenience perspective, it’s also terrific news for local boating and waverunner enthusiasts who will no longer need to travel to Brisbane to purchase, compare and maintain their Yamaha products.”

Yamaha dealer principals Grant Fordyce and Stephen Dold said the Sunshine Coast was an ideal location to base a business.

“This is a really exciting development for Yamaha to open a marine outlet from a business and lifestyle perspective,” Mr Dold said.

“The Sunshine Coast is a wonderful aquatic playground and Yamaha is very excited to be able to help more local people explore the beautiful waterways of the region.

“We are happy to offer greater convenience for existing Yamaha customers who’ll no longer need to take their boats, waveruners and other equipment to Brisbane for Yamaha authorised maintenance and servicing.

“We’re also very pleased to be able to tap into the local employment market and provide new job opportunities.

“You only have to look around to see the exciting things which are happening on the Sunshine Coast in regards to business and population growth to see why we’re so excited.

“In fact, setting up our new business at 14 Machinery Avenue, Warana would not have been possible if not for the great support we got from Sunshine Coast Council’s Economic Development Branch and Councillor Peter Cox.

“It is very reassuring to work with a council which has such a strong business focus.”

“We would also like to take this opportunity to thank our landlord, Sunshine Coast businesses, contractors and tradesmen that have assisted us in this project to date and we can’t wait to welcome our customers into the facility.”

The new Yamaha dealership will officially open its doors on Saturday, June 2.
