Y-shop

Calling young entrepreneurs interested in selling their wares over the summer holidays. Sunshine Coast Council is helping young people set up shop in Libraries this summer.

Young people, aged between 14 and 25 years who have developed original creative work are encouraged to apply.

Sunshine Coast Libraries will provide the venue, mentoring and promotion of the Y-shop for free.

Manager Library and Gallery Services, Ross Duncan said it is a great opportunity for young people on the Coast.

"We want to help the creative talent on the Coast get their goods out into the public realm," Mr Duncan said.

"This is a chance for young artists to test the response of customers to their creations whilst developing basic business skills for managing a business.

"We are hoping that young people who make jewellery, clothes, crafts or art of any kind will take this opportunity to share their creative talents with the community."

Y-shops will be open every Saturday morning from 9.30am to 11.30am in most Sunshine Coast Library’s over the summer holidays.

Interested young adults need to complete a registration of interest form and provide a sample or photo of their original work. Forms are available from any Sunshine Coast Library. Selected participants then will be invited to be part of the very first Y-shop.
