Sunshine Coast Mayor Mark Jamieson has invited Warner Bros to use the region to film their $160 million superhero film Aquaman after it ran into difficulties with a New South Wales council.
Mayor Jamieson said the Sunshine Coast would be an ideal location for filming and council would do everything possible to expedite the permit process to make it happen.
“We would be very keen to have the Warner Bros team here if they are unable to sort out the issues they are facing at the moment south of the border,” Mayor Jamieson said.
“We have some superb sites for filming in our region which would fit in ideally with what they are looking to achieve with Aquaman.
“It would be a wonderful opportunity to showcase the Sunshine Coast to a worldwide market.
“I have been in communication with the Premier and she firmly supports our invitation to Warner Bros.”
The American superhero film is based on the DC Comics character of the same name.
It is scheduled for release in December next year.
