Construction noise at the new Emporio development on Maroochy Boulevard is being heralded as a loud a vote of confidence in the Maroochydore CBD.

Division 8 Councillor Debbie Blumel, said Reed Property Group’s investment is a sign of things to come.

"This is a great vote of confidence in the future of the Maroochydore CBD, which will see more investors and more jobs," Cr Blumel said.

Reed’s General Manager of Development, Carl Nancarrow, said the development is based on a simple mix of great investment fundamentals; good location, close access to infrastructure and services mixed with great lifestyle and amenity.

"You’ll be able to go shopping, be entertained, get fit and find refreshment, all without having to jump in the car," Mr Nancarrow said.

"Providing a work life balance is becoming increasingly important for many people. Emporio offers this in spades being the Coast’s first true mixed-use precinct.

"Being able to simply walk down stairs to work is also very appealing. Future stages will also provide new innovative designs which will add to this theme.

"It’s already proving popular with more than 90% of apartments sold," Mr Nancarrow said.

"Maroochy Boulevard is going to be one of the gateways into the Sunshine Coast’s future Central Business District – and we want to get in early.

"The fact that we have national and international brands setting up in Maroochy Boulevard gives us confidence about the local economy and will help attract other investors.

"Council should also be congratulated for working with us to get fibre optic cable to Emporio.

"Our joint partnership with Connecting the Coast will mean residents and businesses have high-speed broadband service from the day Stage 1 opens, regardless of whether NBN is here or not."

Economic Development and Entrepreneurship Portfolio Councillor Lew Brennan said council’s pro-active approach on this development is another example of council delivering on the regional economy and jobs.
