Division 5 Portfolio Councillor Jenny McKay encouraged people to vote for.one of the finest natural tourism destinations in the country.

“The Rainforest Discovery Centre has already received one Tourism Award and we envision that it will receive plenty more as the year progresses,” Cr McKay said.

“Time and time again we hear how wonderful Mary Cairncross, and the new centre, is.

“Now, the thousands of visitors who have experienced the site since it opened have the chance to express their praise of the centre in the form of a vote – and be in with a chance to win a $5000 travel voucher.”

Queensland Tourism Industry Council (QTIC) chief executive Daniel Gschwind said the 200-plus QTA nominees were a shining example of why the state’s tourism industry had enjoyed record growth in 2017.

“We’re excited to introduce the RACQ People’s Choice Category and let our visitors and fellow Queenslanders determine the best and most popular tourism experiences in our state,” he said.

The RACQ People’s Choice Category award winners will be presented at the Queensland Tourism Awards Gala Celebration on Friday, November 10 in front of 900 guests at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Run by QTIC with the support of Queensland Airports Limited and Tourism and Events Queensland, the Queensland Tourism Awards celebrate the state’s $23 billion tourism industry's success and recognise the individuals and businesses doing an outstanding job generating economic wealth and supporting jobs in communities throughout Queensland.
