The first stage of an upgrade to Beerwah’s civic heart is complete, with a new entry plaza and arbour, custom-design seating walls, picnic tables under shade trees and new gardens transforming Turner Park.

Division 1 Councillor Rick Baberowski said the Sunshine Coast Council upgrade improved access to the park and would increase its profile in Beerwah.

“Turner Park has been Beerwah’s hidden gem for too long and this new entry creates a proper link to our award winning transformed town centre,” Cr Baberowski said.

“This project delivers on an action identified in the extensive community consultation process and is part of the Beerwah Public Domain Masterplan.

“The new additions to Turner Park and the custom designs in Simpson Street and Beerwah Tower Green reflect Beerwah’s natural history and its modern country town character.

“The entry plaza also features a bonus sculpted boulder by local Peachester artist Hew Chee Fong – who created the feature boulders in Beerwah Tower Green – which further connects Turner Park to the town centre.

“Council is now working on the concept design of stage two, which is scheduled to start during the 2016/17 financial year.

“The proposed second stage of work will include play equipment upgrades, improved paths, seating and gardens.”
