Start your long weekend with a leisurely drive to Kenilworth to view the Kenilworth Arts Council’s Then and Now Photographic Display.
Presented by former Kenilworth resident and gallery owner Birgit Kehr, the exhibition showcases a collection of photos from the hinterland which coincides with the 50th Anniversary of the Naming of the Sunshine Coast celebrations.
The exhibition runs from Friday, September 29 to Monday, October 2 from 10am to 4pm (Friday to Sunday) and 10am to 1pm (Monday) at the Kenilworth Hall.

The Eumundi Our Story - Past, Present and Future Festival starts on Friday, September 29 to Sunday, October 1.
Kicking off the festivities, the Deadly Collective is offering a unique opportunity to connect with “ancient culture in modern times” on Friday from 11am to 3pm.
Held at the Deadly Espresso Café, visitors will have the chance to share a yarn, enjoy some bush tucker delicacies, watch a film and engage in indigenous experiences.
Later that night, slip on those retro digs and head to the iconic Joe’s Waterhole for a 1960s dance party. Get funky with GENEXIS with prizes for best dressed.
On Saturday after the markets, grab a spot along Memorial Drive to welcome the grand parade.
Along for the ride will be cows, horses, fire trucks, farm machinery, street performers, dancers, local agriculture and live music.
There will even be an Elvis look-a-like competition for kids if they want to be part of the parade with cash prizes for the top five best dressed.
The celebrations will be rolling all afternoon and into the evening at the Imperial Hotel’s Beer and Music Fest.
Sunday offers a family fun day at Dick Caplick Park with a sausage sizzle, “Your Mums Undies” cricket and activities for the kids.
For a truly exceptional experience, Templeton’s Dance Studio is opening its doors for an afternoon of ballroom dancing.
Five generations of professional dancers will be on hand to show you how it’s done. With light refreshments, this is a once-in-a-lifetime event for all ages.
If the warm weather proves too much then a visit to Mooloolaba Beach is a must. Enjoy a dip in the ocean and then head along to Shaping Sands in front of the Loo with a View.
Watch as international sand artist Dennis “The Sandman” creates giant sand sculptures on the beach.
For those wanting to relive a little piece of their childhood, join in one of the many workshops to learn how to build a sand castle like the professionals.
Workshops will be held between 9am-3pm from Saturday September 30 to Monday October 2.
Not to be missed is the Newsmakers Exhibition at the Landsborough Museum which opened this week and runs until September 2018.
Showcasing major events that have occurred over the past 50 years on the Sunshine Coast this is an eye-opening exhibition for those who would love to learn more about the Coast’s remarkable history.
