Sunshine Coast Council invites families to join 170,000 other children across Australia to celebrate National Simultaneous Storytime when the picture book The Very Cranky Bear is read at 11am on Wednesday 23 May 2012 at your local library.
Library and Gallery Services Manager Ross Duncan said Sunshine Coast Libraries will join in National Simultaneous Storytime to celebrate and acknowledge the vital work being done in libraries, schools and communities around Australia.
" The Very Cranky Bear will be read at exactly the same time at libraries, schools and child care centres throughout Australia," he said.
"The event is organised by the Australian Library and Information Association to promote the value of reading and literacy as well as the importance of Australia's book industry and the important role libraries play in the community.
"The Very Cranky Bear, written by Nick Bland, is a beautifully illustrated book that is full of humour and also carries a message about caring for others in a thoughtful way.
"Children can visit one of the following local library branches to find out why the bear is cranky and to learn about the Sheep, Lion, Zebra and Moose who go into the bear’s cave to escape the rain."
