The Sunshine Coast Council will crane in a temporary bridge from the Glasshouse Mountains to help repair a road at Lake MacDonald, which was damaged by heavy rain and flooding over the past 24 hours.

About 12 properties have been without vehicle access at Whitewood Court, Lake MacDonald, and only temporary pedestrian access after the road culvert failed.

The 14 metre, temporary bridge will be removed from a construction site at Bruce Pde, Glasshouse Mountain by a 200 tonne crane.

The work is expected to start about 7am tomorrow morning (Saturday 4 April) with the bridge to be on the road by 9am.

It is expected to take about 1.5 hours for the bridge to be trucked to Whitewood Court with the crane then set to start moving the bridge into place about 12.30pm.

In the meantime, from 7am at Whitewood Court, council crews will be preparing the area to receive the temporary bridge.

The bridge is expected to be in place about 1.30pm and ready to use by vehicles about 3.30pm after bitumen ramps are put into place.

The bridge will remain in place until the damaged bridge is evaluated, repaired or replaced.

If film crews or photographers wish to know at what stage the temporary bridge is at on its travels, contact Fred Spinks, who will be managing the operation on behalf of council, on 0410 512 501.
