There’s been a bit of a shuffle around of the bus zone, taxi rank and an on-street car park in Burnett Street, Buderim recently.

Sunshine Coast Division 6 Councillor Christian Dickson said he wanted to ensure local residents were aware of the changes.

“A change to the allocation of on-street parking and the bus and taxi zones in Burnett Street was required after it was identified the bus zone length was not meeting minimum requirements – it was too short to allow buses to pull in and out safely,” Cr Dickson said.

“As the taxi rank was adjacent to the bus zone, we had to move this in order to extend the bus zone to an appropriate length.

“To retain the taxi bay nearby – the only one in the immediate area – we needed to replace an on-street, one-hour car park.

“The car park just east of the signalised pedestrian crossing is for taxis only now.

"I apologise for any confusion this may cause for those local residents parking on auto-pilot.

“Please always remember to check the street signage to ensure you are parked legally and safely.”

Division 7 Councillor Ted Hungerford said for those calling a taxi, there were new rank ID numbers making it easier to specify your location.

“The newly installed taxi bay on Burnett Street is one of a number of taxi ranks with a new rank ID number helping Suncoast Cabs and its users to pinpoint exact pick-up locations,” Cr Hungerford said.

“The ID number is 507B which is clearly labelled in blue on a sign alongside it.

“Meanwhile, if you catch the bus, remember there’s a new Sunshine Coast Public Transport Guide which provides handy step-by-step information for travelling around the region.

“You can download the guide from Council’s website, or grab a copy at one of Council’s customer service centres, libraries or visitor information centres.”
