Works of art by leading contemporary Australian artists are now on display at Caloundra Regional Gallery as part of an exhibition that highlights the increasing significance and depth of the Sunshine Coast Art Collection.
Re-View: Selected works from the Sunshine Coast Art Collection showcases more than 30 works acquired through 11 years of the Sunshine Coast Art Prize alongside other significant acquisitions, including generous donations made by previous art prize winners Tony Albert, Michael Cook, David Fairbairn and Scott Redford.
Arts Portfolio Councillor Rick Baberowski said the exhibition was designed to give a great snapshot of our region’s contemporary collection.
“The exhibition has been selected from the more than 300 artworks in our collection, which having been acquired over many years, now provides an interesting insight into the changing techniques and ideas about what’s important to our artists,” Cr Baberowski said.
“By growing and sharing the collection, we are developing an enduring cultural asset that can be enjoyed by generations to come.
“I encourage everyone to visit the gallery to examine for themselves this excellent exhibition of 2D artworks and ceramics that has been carefully curated to provide a good sample of our regional collection.”
The Re-View exhibition will close on Sunday, June 18.
