Ride2School Day 2017 was a major hit on the Sunshine Coast with 200 more registered riders than in 2016 once again showing that local families are keen to get around their area on two wheels.

Council had 2145 students, from more than 60 schools across the Coast, register to ride on the day.

Division 2 Councillor Tim Dwyer thanked all the kids, families and schools for getting involved and invited even more to participate next year.

“It was a pleasure to ride with Adopt-A-Cop Constable Kelly O’Brien and the Caloundra Primary peloton, including my son, for a fun and enjoyable morning ride,” Cr Dwyer said.

“We picked up the Prep students on the way and the group at large was a sight to behold for residents and motorists in the area.

“It was especially pleasing to note that motorists around us had heeded our safety in school zones messaging and we all felt very safe.

“I’d like to thank those on the roads around us for taking extra care to make sure we all got to school safely.”

Everyone who registered and rode went into prize draw and all major prize winners have been notified.Congratulations to all our winners and a huge thank you to everyone who participated in Ride2School Day 2017.
