Queensland Garden Expo has been confirmed as amongst the best events in Australia with the announcement of the National Finalists in the 2018 Australian Event Awards.

Proudly organised by Nursery and Garden Industry Queensland Ltd, the event held at Nambour on the Sunshine Coast for the past 34 years has become a firm favourite with gardeners who travel from across Australia, New Zealand and further afield to attend.

Widely recognised as one of Australia’s leading gardening events, the Queensland Garden Expo brings together the best of gardening information, innovation and inspiration.

“We are very pleased to be selected as a finalist in these very prestigious awards and to have the opportunity to share the event’s achievements with the many people who have contributed to its success over the years, and who continue their commitment to promoting all the benefits of gardening,” said Peter Young, Queensland Garden Expo Chairman.

In congratulating the Queensland Garden Expo on their selection as a finalist, Division 10 Councillor Greg Rogerson said it was a significant achievement for the event to be selected as a finalist and receive the industry recognition and accolade it so rightly deserves.

“The Queensland Garden Expo is an iconic and much loved event Australia-wide and to be lauded on a national stage is fantastic for the organisers and their entire, hardworking team.” Cr Rogerson said.

“The Expo attracts a growing number of visitors from outside of our region who come here not only for the vibrancy and educational value of this magnificent event, but to experience some of our local experiences and the hospitality that we here on the Sunshine Coast might sometimes take for granted all the year round.

“It is great that these awards acknowledge the important contribution of events in growing our regional economy.”

Following a rigorous first round of judging by event industry leaders and experts around Australia, Queensland Garden Expo’s place amongst the National Finalists has the weight of the industry behind it.

Entries are judged on all aspects of event management including best practice, innovation, marketing, stakeholder engagement and management, sustainability and event legacy.

Co-chair of the Event Awards Judging Panel Sandy Hollway AO said the diversity of Australia’s events industry continues to amaze me.

"As does the ability of the Awards to put a spotlight on not just the incredible events and achievements which take place each year, but to draw out the challenges event organisers manage to overcome through determination, innovation, collaboration and resourcefulness." he said.

Winners of the Australian Event Awards will be announced at a lavish awards ceremony on 21 November at Novotel Twin Waters on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland.

The Queensland Garden Expo will be next held on 12-14 July 2019 at council’s Nambour Showgrounds.
