Permanent water refill stations to keep Kings Beach visitors hydrated
Two new permanent water refill stations have been installed at Kings Beach in time for the Caloundra Music Festival.
Those heading to Caloundra Music Festival will be kept hydrated for free, thanks to Unitywater’s Back to Tap van and two new permanent refill stations at the Kings Beach site.
Council and Unitywater have installed the refill stations in the grounds in time for the festival of sun, surf and soul.
Unitywater Executive Manager Customer and Community Katherine Gee said they were part of Unitywater’s Back to Tap program, which encourages everyone to ditch single-use plastic water bottles for reusable bottles and tap water.
“We’re really proud to partner with Sunshine Coast Council to install these refill stations and provide an alternative way for people to drink water in public places,” she said.
“Our Back to Tap van has been used at Caloundra Music Festival for several years and we are thrilled for it to be used again.
The addition of the two permanent stations means people can refill at any time, any day – not just during the festival.
“It’s great to see so many people embracing the plastic-free movement.”
Division 2 Councillor Tim Dwyer said the Caloundra Music Festival was one of the Sunshine Coast’s premier annual events and had led the way in introducing sustainable initiatives for music festivals.
“I’m really pleased to see the installation of these new refill stations which will help us achieve our vision of being Australia’s most sustainable region – healthy, smart, creative,” Cr Dwyer said.
“There are still some tickets available so I’d encourage everyone to come along and enjoy this year’s CMF.”
