Work is almost complete on Pacific Crown Helicopters’ new premises following their announcement as a major new tenant at the Sunshine Coast Airport.

The specialised helicopter refurbishment company, which employs 16 full-time staff, will relocate to a new $2 million, 2000m2 purpose built facility in December after 13 years at an industrial estate near Caloundra Airport.

Pacific Crown Helicopters sales manager Mark Najman said the move to the new hangar was an exciting step for the company.

“A hangar with  dedicated airside access at Sunshine Coast Airport is a big step for our company and will help us to further streamline our in-house capabilities,” Mr Najman said.

“The new facility will provide us with ample space for four light to medium helicopters,or two heavy helicopters, to be worked on simultaneously.

“It features an advanced paint booth, dedicated airconditioned engine, airframe and interior workshops plus a consolidated stores room and engineering offices, offering a one stop solution.

“We’ve also supported Sunshine Coast Airport’s commitment to be a carbon neutral airport with our facility primarily powered through solar panels, the inclusion of a modern plumbing system with an oil separator and the latest energy efficient appliances.”

Pacific Crown Helicopters was founded in 2003 as a small but dedicated helicopter refurbishment provider, but has since become a recognised leader in the industry.

The company now provides sales and completion of new helicopters, refurbishment and heavy maintenance of used helicopters, spare parts and components, in-house painting, upholstery, avionics, sheet metal and composite materials repair and design.

They are the only manufacturer certified maintenance centre in Australia for Arriel and Arrius engines and have CASA Part 145 Maintenance Approval (one of only a handful of companies nationally to achieve this standard).

Economic Development and Innovation Portfolio Cr Steve Robinson said the relocation and expansion of Pacific Crown Helicopters was an important achievement.

“Pacific Crown has shown a long-term commitment to our region and is recognised domestically and internationally for their technical proficiency, innovation and quality of workmanship,” Cr Robinson said.

“We’re pleased to welcome them and support their future growth opportunities at Sunshine Coast Airport.

“Their relocation and expansion shows the commitment to the development of Sunshine Coast Airport as a platform to become a significant aviation and aerospace industry hub.

"Aviation and aerospace, which is worth more than $124 million to the regional economy, is one of the seven high-value industries identified in the Regional Economic Development Strategy and announcements such as this is an important step to demonstrate the support of this sector.”
