Council and consultants presented an options paper to Noosa community representatives today that detailed the recommended erosion protection measures for the Noosa Spit.

Councillor Russell Green said that council is working with International Coastal Management to tackle the erosion issues at Noosa Spit head on.

“The preferred option proposed from the consultant in managing erosion at Noosa Spit’s dog beach is to install a submerged structure made of large geotextile bags as well as a training wall at the end of the spit,” Cr Green said.

“We had a mixed bag of feedback but that’s what we were there for.

“The presentation enabled those community representatives to gain a thorough understanding of the issues and the available options.

“Council’s working team will now review all the feedback and plan a course of action to refine the suggested outcomes and project methodologies.

“The meeting was well attended by numerous community groups, including Noosa Parks Association, Sunshine Coast Environment Council and Noosa Biosphere, and I will certainly be looking at further community engagement opportunities with sector representatives and the community prior to the finalisation of a council report.”
