The Ridges Sports Complex at Peregian Springs was officially opened today by Sunshine Coast Council and FKP Property Group.

Mayor Mark Jamieson said the new sports complex will foster an active and healthy community in the Peregian Springs area.

" The Ridges Sports Complex delivers a frontline service essential for a happy and sustainable Sunshine Coast community," he said.

"It’sa first class sporting facility that has been collaboratively delivered by council and FKP Property Group to contribute a service essential for community wellbeing," Mayor Jamieson said.

"As part of the Peregian Springs development council determined that open space, in the form of a sports complex, would be required to benefit the broader community.

"The first half of the Master Planned community, Peregian Springs, is now largely complete and has been a major residential growth area over the past ten years.

"The second major component of the development, Coolum Ridges, is now well underway and will be a major economic driver for the area for the next five to ten years."

The sport and recreational facilities in the new complex includes:

  • Two multi purpose playing fields
  • Field lighting to competition standard
  • Irrigation derived from bore water
  • Terrace seating and viewing shelters
  • Children’s playground and BBQ facilities
  • Outdoor exercise stations

The broader Coolum Ridges development includes;

  • Kilometres of walkways and bike paths
  • Hectares of recreation and conservation parks

The Mayor said Coolum Touch Association Inc will now be based at The Ridges Sports Complex on a long term lease to manage the clubhouse and sports facilities.

"The club is anticipating membership growth within the junior and senior teams due to the increasing population of the Peregian Springs area," he said.

"Both the new facility and its new club managers are a great outcome all round for the Peregian Springs community."
