The newest in a series of outdoor exercise stations has been installed at Petrie Park in Nambour, as the result of a collaboration between council and the Rotary Club of Nambour.

Division 10 Councillor Greg Rogerson was proud to see the equipment installed as a result of the partnership.

“Petrie Park is the perfect spot for this exercise station – it’s a great open space, with plenty of natural shade in the area we have installed the equipment,” Cr Rogerson said.

“This project has been a fantastic community collaboration with the Rotary Club of Nambour and I would like to thank them for their funding contribution and input throughout the planning phase.

“It’s important we make the most of our climate and outdoor spaces with projects like this to help our community enjoy a healthy lifestyle.”

The Rotary Club of Nambour jointly funded and helped plan for the new equipment. The project also includes a new connecting pathway.

Rotary Club of Nambour Treasurer, Doug Chetwynd, said the facility would benefit residents and visitors well into the future.

“I have spoken to a number of people who stop to make use of the fitness station, and each of them commented that the facility was a great addition to the local park,” Mr Chetwynd said.

“The outcome of the fitness station being strategically located at Petrie Park is the result of Cr Greg Rogerson and council staff working in conjunction with our Rotary Club of Nambour.

“We hope to work with Cr Rogerson and council in the future on other projects that will be beneficial to the local community.”

Council also installed outdoor exercise equipment at Coopers Lookout, Buddina and Glenfields Neighbourhood Park, Mountain Creek in 2015-16 and is now replacing equipment at Crummunda Park in Wurtulla, with plans to install a new station at Mapleton Lilyponds.
