Nambour has been showing significant development activity and a local business is living proof.
Shake It Up Music on Currie Street has added to a growing list of business achievements by becoming the preferred supplier for the Queensland Government Department of Education and Training.
Co-owner Mark Higgins said the business was confident of continuing its steady growth in South East Queensland and beyond.
“We personally service 80% of the Sunshine Coast schools and we’re aiming to look after all schools from north side of Brisbane right up to Bundaberg within the next 12 months,” Mr Higgins said.
“Shake It Up Music has also just received its first gold record from Maton Guitars Australia, being the number one dealer in Queensland and number 10 in Australia.
“We’ve also been told by Yamaha and Casio that we are achieving the best growth in sales for their brands of any retailer in Queensland.”
Mr Higgins said the business also remained focused on servicing the local region.
“Shake It Up Music is all about community and we regularly help with supply of sound and entertainment as events like Nambour’s Tramfest and Nambour Together,” he said.
“Shake It Up Music has 12 teachers and over 300 students. I personally coach a 20-piece show band, comprising of students from 10 different schools called The All Stars Show Band.
“We also recently performed at the Caloundra Music Festival for the sixth year in a row, having the opportunity to play with members of Tower Of Power, an international touring band who have been performing for over 49 years.”
Division 10 Councillor Greg Rogerson said Shake It Up Music were a great example of business expansion opportunities developing within the Nambour area.
“Mark and his team at Shake It Up Music have been absolutely fantastic for the Nambour community in terms of what they’ve provided above and beyond to civic events like our monthly Tramfest street parties and Nambour Together,” Cr Rogerson said.
“So it comes as no surprise to me that their business services are in hot demand throughout the Sunshine Coast and also other areas of Queensland.
“Nambour is currently experiencing significant building activity and growth and Shake It Up Music are a great example of what can be achieved here. Nambour has excellent transport connections, including a rail line and station connecting south to Brisbane and north to Gympie and a number of bus services also connect Nambour with the coastal strip and the University of Sunshine Coast.
“The Australian Government also recently announced a grant of $500,000 towards the construction of the Nambour Heritage Tramway Project. This project will see the former cane train tracks re-activated and used by a new solar-powered, battery regenerated passenger tram.
“This project will create a genuine point of difference for Nambour, increasing visitor numbers and tourism and events spending and play a vital role in rebuilding community connectedness and pride in our town.”
