Don’t miss the chance to witness the grand parade and be amazed by the array of agricultural exhibits and entertainment when the 2018 Sunshine Coast Agricultural Show returns to Sunshine Coast Council’s Nambour Showgrounds from June 15-17.
When you ask people what their favourite thing to do at a show is, we could debate it for hours. It could be the popular animal nursery, the show jumping, the wood chopping, side show alley or the exhibits in the pavilions. No matter what it is, you will find it at the 113th Sunshine Coast Agricultural Show.
Community Portfolio Councillor and Show President Jenny McKay said it was fascinating to look back at Picture Sunshine Coast heritage images of the very first show which was held at Nambour on June 2 and 3, 1909.
“Wind the clock forward and while some things have changed, people will still find the classic activities they love,” Cr McKay said.
“Today’s show is still an opportunity for exhibitors to showcase their produce, goods and services and of course side show alley and the entertainment has modernised with the times.
“Be sure to come and support everything your local show has on offer including a much-loved mainstay, the Queensland verses Tasmania Woodchop Championship in the woodchop area.”
Show Manager Janell Cox said with the theme _It’s our Show – Let’s Go and Working Dogs (celebrating "Year of the Dog")_ the Sunshine Coast Agricultural Show would not disappoint and definitely had something for everyone.
“There will be the return of the ever popular wood chopping, show jumping, agricultural exhibits and fantastic entertainment,” she said.
“With increased numbers of exhibits and entries this year’s show is not to be missed.”
Division 10 Councillor and show committee member Greg Rogerson said the Sunshine Coast Agricultural Show was one of the region’s most anticipated events.
“Everyone has fond memories of attending a show as a young kid whether it be watching the main ring entertainment, a treat of eating fairy floss or taking home a show bag,” Cr Rogerson said.
“Today there will be parents and grandparents sharing the good old fashioned country show experience with entertainment for the whole family.”
Cost to attend is $12 per day for adults, $10 for secondary school students, $5 for primary school students and children under school age are free. Parking will be available at the Crusher’s Grounds off Bli Bli Road and a shuttle bus will be operating from 8am to 9pm daily between the Nambour Transit Centre and Nambour Showgrounds.
