A walk along Noosa River's foreshore can be a relaxed stroll - or it can be a progressive upper and lower body muscle workout, should you choose.

Noosa residents can now enjoy upgraded gym equipment at the exercise trail inside the Gympie Terrace Lions Park walkway, between Robert and Cloudsley streets.

The long-life, low-maintenance equipment has been upgraded to better withstand our increasingly wild weather events.

The initial instalment of equipment has proved to be one of the most popular features among residents and visitors to the area and the new equipment will only increase that enjoyment.

It features a wide variety of health, strength and stamina-building applications including a cardio stepper, abdominal crunch, back and chest press, pull-up apparatus and a squat press to allow users to have a full body workout.

The exercise trail will allow residents and visitors wanting to maintain their wellbeing and physical fitness to do so while enjoying the fresh surrounds in the park and gardens.

Division 11 councillor Russell Green said he understood the equipment was different from that previously in place "but it is improved and was chosen because of its resilience and longevity".

"I am now seeking funding to implement a program for the community on health and wellbeing including how to get the maximum benefit from the new equipment and the open space areas of Gympie Terrace," Cr Green said.
