Sunshine Coast Council’s libraries and galleries across the Coast have once again come to the rescue of mums and dads to entertain the kids with more than 60 fun-filled activities these school holidays.

From Kids Night in with Nickleby the magician to writing a leaf peace message and leaving it on the tree sculpture - there is literally something for all ages! Join in the annual Chess Tournament with great prizes to be won, join Bushcare at the tree planting day or be inspired by the Sunshine Coast Youth Orchestra recital.

Children can even learn how to make their own worm farm in the Wonderful Worm Waste Workshops or make cool Teeny Tiny Gardens out of everyday items.

If your child ever wanted to make their own stop motion movie, then the Ani-Movie Workshops are just the thing. Using Lego, plasticine, figurines and your imagination your final produce will be burned to a DVD to share with your friends and family.

Back by popular demand are the Spring ArtsCool workshops for those children who want to discover their creative talents at Caloundra Regional Gallery, Noosa Regional Gallery and the Cooroy Butter Factory Arts Centre. Make wearable artworks out of tyres, explore self-portraits with a difference or learn the skills of contemporary painting, just to name a few.

Council encourages families to take advantage of these activities to entertain the children throughout the coming holidays. These programs are sure to be popular so book early to avoid disappointment.

To view the full range of holiday activities and to book, head to council’s library website or call your local library on 1300 LIBRARY (1300 542 727), Butter Factory Arts Centre on 5454 9050, Caloundra Regional Gallery on 5420 8299 or Noosa Regional Gallery on 5449 5340.
