Lease extension will enable STEPS Group Australia to thrive

STEPS Group Australia Limited has a long-term home on the Sunshine Coast, following a decision by council today to grant it a lease on its Caloundra premises for the next 30 years.

STEPS Group Australia is the current Trustee Lessee of the land situated at 9 George Street, Caloundra and pays annual rent, on a commercial basis.

Division Two Councillor and Deputy Mayor, Tim Dwyer welcomed the decision.

“STEPS Group Australia is a national organisation that provides training, employment and community services that teach people skills that can help them achieve their goals,” Cr Dwyer said.

“Their wonderful programs and services enrich the lives of many people in our region,” he said.

“STEPS Group Australia proposes to expand its assets to facilitate education and training programs that improve the quality of life of STEPS’ customers, provide opportunities for greater independence in life for Sunshine Coast residents, support local social and economic outcomes and lead positive change in the community.

“Today’s decision will open the way for STEPS Group Australia to make these exciting changes that will benefit many people for years to come,” he said.

Today’s decision granted STEPS Group Australia an exception from council, in accordance with Section 236 (1) (c) (iii) of the Local Government Regulation 2012, to enter into a new tenure which will support the group in their request for capital improvements to the land at 9 George Street, Caloundra.
