Sunshine Coast Council has begun work to seal the last gravel road in the Coolum area – Point Arkwright’s Arthur Street – as part of its commitment to improving the road infrastructure networks across the region.

Division 9 Councillor Steve Robinson said the sealing would improve safety on the residential street.

“Based on community feedback, the road infrastructure for Arthur Street has been designed to complement and enhance the local streetscape,” Cr Robinson said.

“The constructed roadway will be a 5.5m wide asphalt sealed surface, which will be a significant improvement from the current gravel road.

“I am really pleased to see this project delivered, and I would like to thank the community for their time and contribution to this project.”

Work is expected to be completed within two months (weather dependent).

Council has informed nearby residents of the expected impacts and will ensure traffic and pedestrian safety management measures are in place during construction.
