If you're interested in the future look of the Dicky Beach precinct, you have the rest of this week left to send in your input for a landscape plan.
Following partial removal of the iconic SS Dicky wreck earlier this year, Sunshine Coast Council is set to develop a landscape plan for the precinct to help retain the area’s identity.
Division 2 Councillor Tim Dwyer said the plan would outline future improvements and identify interpretive elements to remember the SS Dicky wreck.
“Dicky Beach is a beautiful part of the Sunshine Coast with a distinct character,” Cr Dwyer said.
“We want to make sure we retain that character with any future upgrades and improvements, and this plan will provide a clear guide to help with that.
“The plan will focus on the Beerburrum Street streetscape and nearby parkland that is popular with locals and visitors.
“Council will use the initial community input to develop a draft plan, which will be presented to the community in 2016 for further feedback.”
Cr Dwyer said council would begin improvements in December this year to address safety issues.
“The shade sails need to be removed as the posts are causing a safety issue with the visibility of pedestrians to traffic and some timber pieces are failing,” he said.
“The bollards also require maintenance and some of these will be removed.”
