Join the festive celebrations as the Kings Beach amphitheatre comes alive with the spirit of Christmas, at Sunshine Coast Council’s free family-friendly Carols on Kings on Sunday 23 December 2012.
The Carols on Kings program is jam packed with festive cheer and an exciting line up of talented performers and children’s entertainment, including an appearance by our favourite bearded man in red.
Local favourites taking centre stage include Kelsie Rimmer, Wayne Wiltshire, Genevieve and Bridget O’Brien, Golden Beach Dance School, Caloundra Chorale and Sunshine Coast Performing Arts Centre.
For the youngsters, Dr Seuss will appear as part of the Grinch Christmas Show – the characters of which will join Santa at the end of the night for a special all cast Christmas finale.
Local community organisations will have food and drink for sale so bring a blanket and picnic basket (no glass or alcohol) from 4pm to secure your spot and enjoy the roving entertainment before the official carols program starts at 6pm.
Take advantage of the special event free parking at both the Transit Centre in Cooma Terrace and in Queen Street near the Caloundra High School. Disabled parking will also be available, with access via the Burgess Street car park. A free shuttle bus will operate from 4pm until 9.30pm with stops at the Transit Centre, Moreton Parade (Kings Beach Amphitheatre) and Queen Street (in front of the high school).
The festivities will be topped off with a spectacular fireworks extravaganza at 9pm. If you live nearby and have a pet don’t forget to ensure they are secure for the duration of the event.
These celebrations, and others from across the region, are listed in council’s Sunshine Coast Festive Season Guide 2012/13, making it easy for residents and visitors to begin planning their personal festive season calendars.
