Three of Australia’s high-profile bloggers will come together to share their tips on the art of blogging when the first session of the Reality Bites literary festival kicks off on Saturday 6 June in Noosaville.
An expert panel of bloggers who write on travel, health and gardening – Matthew Cashmore, Rhonda Hetzel and Sarah Steward – will discuss this newest form of writing on the web.
“Blogversation: Writing for peers in the blogosphere” will be held on Saturday 6 June at St Teresa’s School, Noosaville from 11am to midday.
This will be followed by an afternoon workshop for people of all ages wanting to become blog-savvy and learn more about this easy-to-use web tool.
Reality Bites Festival Coordinator, Bernice Childs, said a growing number of people were joining the ‘blogversation’ as a fast, free and fun way to communicate.
“There’s a common misconception that blogging is only for young people but this isn’t true, anyone can learn how to blog and use it for a variety of reasons,” Bernice said.
“This is evident in our panel of bloggers who each has their own area of expertise – travel, health and gardening – but all use blogging as a way to share their passion.”
The blogging session is the first of 21 literary events planned as part of the Reality Bites festival from 6 June to 2 August.
The festival, in its second year, will bring 33 of Australia’s most gifted and intriguing authors, writers, journalists and filmmakers for contemporary program of events including blogging sessions, ‘in conversation’ interviews, literary lunches, workshops, forums, panel discussions and book readings.
The blogging session will show bloggers how to identify goals and objectives for keeping a blog including name and ‘brand’; how to set up a blog; how to write in first post; upload images; set up a profile; and outline privacy and security considerations.
Budding bloggers are asked to come to the workshop with an email account they can easily access.
