Sunshine Coast Council has extended the community consultation period for the draft Integrated Transport Strategy from Friday, July 13 to Friday, July 20 to ensure our community has a chance to have a say.

Council is asking for community feedback on our region’s transport system to ensure we are on the right track.

Transport Portfolio councillor Rick Baberowski said council had been encouraged by the level of engagement so far, with hundreds of visits and comments on the project website, emails and calls to council.

“While transport is a State Government responsibility, council recognises the region is changing, and significant growth is upon us,” Cr Baberowski said.

“This draft strategy aims set very important modal shift targets in addition to capturing the opportunities and responding to the challenges facing our region over the next 20 or so years.

“We need a connected, smart, integrated, safe and efficient transport system and we need to ensure it contributes to our region’s economic viability, sustainability and lifestyle.

“To protect our valued lifestyle here on the Sunshine Coast, it’s important our community has a say in helping plan our future transport strategy to ultimately spend more time with family and friends, and less time in traffic queues.

“Community consultation is critical throughout this process to ensure council hears from all residents.”

Feedback received during the community consultation period will help inform the final version of the Sunshine Coast Council Integrated Transport Strategy.
