Give Sanbot a name to win your very own robot
What would you name Australia’s first intelligent, humanoid service robot? Sanbot is council’s first ever non-human recruit and we’re calling on the community to give her a name.
What would you name Australia’s first intelligent, humanoid service robot?
Sanbot is council’s first ever non-human recruit and we’re calling on the community to give her a name.
Sanbot lives at the Sunshine Coast Smart Centre, 63 Bulcock Street, Caloundra and is responsible for greeting guests and helping them take self-tours if staff are busy with other visitors.
Division 2 Councillor Tim Dwyer said Sanbot used cloud-enabled robotics for artificial intelligence to deliver smarter and more personalised customer service.
“Visitors can interact with her through voice, touch, gesture control, facial and sound detection and recognition,” Cr Dwyer said.
“This means, if you visit Sanbot regularly, she’ll start to recognise you.
“Sanbot can also project videos and presentations onto walls, ceilings or screens.
“So put your thinking caps on and suggest a creative name for Sanbot.”
Entrants will even go in the draw to win their very own programmable robot, a Sphero SPRK+.
Competition closes at 5pm Tuesday August 22. Submit your idea at www.surveymonkey.com/r/smartcityrobot
The winning name will be drawn on Wednesday, August 23.
The Smart Centre is open Monday to Friday from noon – 4pm or by appointment.
School and corporate visits are also welcome. Book your visit via [email protected]
