Nambour’s main street will be transformed into a free music festival showcasing the talents of exceptional local bands, as well as encouraging the Sunshine Coast to explore the intimate live music haunts of Currie Street, as part of Queensland Music Festival (QMF) 2017 on Saturday, July 8.

Currie Street Music Crawl, from 5pm to 10pm, will feature 20 contemporary musicians and bands from the Sunshine Coast, Brisbane and the Gold Coast including Ayla, Sahara Beck, WAAX, Emily Wurramara, Screamfeeder, The Floating Bridges, Blank Realm and Major Leagues, plus up-and-coming talent from QMusic’s Sunshine Coast Industry Connect program.

The artists will perform across five stages in Currie Street venues - the Council Chambers Forecourt, C-Square, The Basement, The Bison Bar, and The Time Machine – all on the one night!

Currie Street Music Crawl is presented by Queensland Music Festival and Sunshine Coast Council, and supported by APRA AMCOS, Australia Council for the Arts, the Regional Arts Development Fund, QMusic and Sunshine Coast Creative Alliance.

Division 10 Councillor Greg Rogerson said the Currie Street Music Crawl was the only Sunshine Coast event included in the Queensland Music Festival program.

“I encourage the Sunshine Coast community to support this fantastic free event, enjoy the great line-up of artists and experience some of the great Currie Street venues,” Cr Rogerson said.

“Currie’s Street reputation for live music grows and this is another step in the right direction to meeting the Nambour Activation Plan objectives of Nambour being known as a creative and innovative hub for artists, entertainers and entrepreneurs.”

The complete line-up of artists performing in Currie Street Music Crawl is: Alys Ffion, Ayla, Band of Frequencies, Blank Realm, Buck Dean and The Green Lips, Emily Wurramara, The Fergies, The Floating Bridges, The Hi-Boys, Hobo Magic, Josh Rennie-Hynes, Lifeboat, Major Leagues, Marville, OKBADLANDS, Pro Vita, Sahara Beck, Screamfeeder, Shifting Sands and WAAX.

Currie Street Music Crawl is a licensed 18+ event.

This project has been assisted by the Australian Government through the Australia Council, its arts funding and advisory body.

It has also received support through the Regional Arts Development Fund, a partnership between the Queensland Government and the Sunshine Coast Council.
