Community encouraged to have your say

As the Division 3 and Environment and Liveability Portfolio Councillor, I continually try to keep the community informed, through my Facebook page (Cr Peter Cox) and these columns.

Your feedback is so valuable to our projects because we have such diverse communities with great insights from across the Sunshine Coast. As a council we want to protect our wonderful environment and lifestyle into the future, and you can help us to do that by having your say.

As part of the ‘Our Resilient Coast. Our Future’ project, we are currently seeking community feedback on coastal hazard adaptation options, your experiences of coastal adaptation and what that might look like for your local area. The project seeks to deliver a long-term strategy to help manage the impacts of coastal hazards, like erosion and inundation. I’ve been part of the Project Control Group over the past 18 months and know just how valuable community feedback has been so far. I would encourage you all to complete this survey by 5pm August 30.

We are also seeking community input to update the Domestic Animal Management (Cats and Dogs) Strategy for the next 10 years. We understand for many, pets are part of the family, but also know that some people prefer places that are pet free, while others may not have a pet but still enjoy being around them. So whether you are a pet owner or not, your feedback is important to us. Share your thoughts by 4pm August 31.
