As you hit the polling booths this weekend for the state election please consider what the various candidates and political parties have outlined in their commitments to ensure Sunshine Coast receives a fairer share of funding in the future - particularly for public transport infrastructure.

State government infrastructure investment has not kept pace with growth and our infrastructure and facilities cannot respond to the needs of the existing, let alone the future, population. I encourage you to look closely at how your local candidates will commit to improving this for our region – we cannot go without this funding any longer.

Community wishes granted !

Council has committed to supporting a range of important community initiatives with 77 community groups receiving more than $530,000 Community Grants Program funding for the 2017/18 Major Grants round one.

Community groups set to benefit in Division 8 include Maroochydore Rugby Union Club for the first stage of a multi-staged major facility upgrade and Apex Queensland Youth Camps to construct a high ropes course replacement at Mudjimba Apex Youth Camp facility.

Applications for the next round of major grants in council’s Community Grants Program will open on January 29, 2018 and close March 12, 2018.

For more information on the range of grants available through council visit council’s website or to discuss your project, contact a grants officer on 5420 8616.
