It’s hard to believe winter school holidays are upon us. If you’re stuck for ideas on how to fill your days during the break, there’s no shortage of fantastic workshops being held across the Sunshine Coast libraries and environmental reserves- it’s a great way to try new things, explore our natural landscape and make new friends. Celebrating 50 years of agricultural goodness

I was proud to join the Sunshine Coast Agricultural Show Society in launching the “50 Years of Agricultural Goodness” cook book this week as part of the 50th Anniversary of the Naming of the Sunshine Coast celebrations.

Families and friends of the show community submitted their favourite recipes using Sunshine Coast produce.

Graphic design students from TAFE Queensland (Nambour) assisted with the design and style of the book, with one of the student’s Isabella Staal hand-painting the artwork that features on the front cover. The book will be available for sale at various outlets the Nambour Sunshine Coast Show office for $10.

Crystal Waters Markets

I also recently attended an onsite meeting with staff and representatives from the Crystal Waters Community cooperative members to work together to improve the opportunity to extend safe parking on Market Days. Markets are held on the first Saturday of each month (except January), in the valley of the Conondale Range at the Crystal Waters Permacuture Village. The next market is Saturday July 1 so head along and uncover some fantastic local produce, artwork and more.

Record show crowds

Sunshine Coast Agricultural Show and Maleny Show have celebrated a record crowd this year as they focussed strongly on their core business of promoting rural business, competitions and youth engagement, congratulations to all who made these events so successful.
