New Residential Care Facility in Buderim MCU15/0116?

Submissions relating to the development of a Residential Care facility at 112 Burnett St, Buderim are now open. I am interested to hear community feedback on this application and encourage you to complete a submission by 5pm, 18 December.

Become a furry foster parent and help save lives

As a proud dog owner myself, I wanted to provide my support to Sunshine Coast Animal Refuge Society (SCARS) with their desperate call-out to the community to help them keep saving cats and dogs.

For the first time ever, SCARS is seeking the public’s assistance with fostering their cats and dogs. This program has always been run internally, utilising SCARS volunteers as carers, however, the demand and need this wonderful refuge is facing is too great for this to continue as is.

For SCARS to be in this position now, at the very beginning of the summer period begins when there is generally an increase of surrendered, dumped and roaming cats and dogs, is a major concern.

Please remember, giving pets as a surprise Christmas gift can sometimes backfire as people are not aware of what it takes to be a pet owner. Perhaps giving foster care a go will give people an insight into having a pet, whilst receiving the support of SCARS to help settle them in.

And by becoming a foster carer people will be directly helping save lives.

It’s starting to look a lot like Christmas…

Well I can’t believe Santa will be coming down the chimney before we know it, so I wanted to take this opportunity to wish you all a safe, happy and healthy Christmas and New Year, and thank you for your support and feedback throughout 2015.

Waste not, want not!

And don’t forget to recycle those empty champagne and beer bottles in your yellow bin after the Christmas festivities because council’s kerbside collection service will be on the job as usual – including Christmas Day.
