Volunteer for our environment
Two new community groups have been formed in Division 3 to help improve our natural environment and they are calling for volunteers! If you have time to help out, please join them. The groups are:
- Bokarina Beach Bush Care – meet second Saturday of each month at 8-10am, followed by morning tea at BA239.
- Warana Beach Bush and Birds – meet third Friday of each month at 8.30-10am, followed by morning tea at BA238 (north of Wyanda).
You can contact our Community Conservation Officer, Rhonda, on 5499 5134 for further details. A big thank you to all the valuable volunteers who already lend a hand to maintain our beaches and environmental areas.
Moving ahead in the health precinct
A hive of activity is happening at the Kawana Oceanside Health Hub, opposite the soon to completed Sunshine Coast University Hospital at Birtinya. With a newly open six storey health care facility, cafes, hotel accommodation, day care facilities and a multi deck public parking complex, the excitement level is clearly on the rise. It’s worth mentioning that some of the recent development approvals have included an 151 bed aged care facility, 140 retirement living units and an eight storey 60 unit apartment building.
Take a drive through the precinct today and see all the new businesses and construction activity taking shape around Eccles Boulevard in Birtinya. Or for more information, visit the Planning and Projects page on council’s website at www.sunshinecoast.qld.gov.au or Stockland’s Oceanside Kawana website at www.oceansidekawana.com.au.
Meet and greet
For my next ‘mobile office’ session I will be at Currimundi Market Place on Friday 24 June from 9-11am. Come along to have a chat about any local issues or council projects.
