I recently inspected the new section of pathway linking Meridan Downs Park, Little Mountain through to the Bellvista community. This safe and attractive pathway provides a much needed link for school children. The missing link was brought to my attention by a resident last July and, after allocating $30k from my councillor discretionary funds, council completed the work. I’m sure this new pathway will be well received by the local communities.

Let’s keep our area beautiful everyday

Roadside litter is an ongoing problem and in the lead-up to Clean Up Australia Day on 1 March, I encourage local residents to join the ‘picitup’ cause to help keep our community spaces beautiful every day.

I have a limited supply of long reach pick-up tongs and canvas ’picitup’ envirobags available FREE to any interested residents! Collect your kit from my office at Caloundra Council Chambers or, if interested, we can organise to get some kits to the Bellvista Community Meeting Place.

Grants funding

Artists and not-for-profit community organisations can apply for funding for a project, activity or event that benefits the Coast community. Applications for the Regional Arts Development Fund close on March 1 and Community Grants (major round) close on March 14.

Council Grants Officers can assist with the application process, technical queries, project development, grant writing tips and advice on other funding sources outside council.

For further information or to find out if your project is eligible, contact a Grants Officer on 5475 7272, email [email protected] or visit www.sunshinecoast.qld.gov.au/grants.
