I always enjoy engaging with our passionate community members and volunteers who are working to make our Sunshine Coast a better place for all.

Amongst the many, two such groups are the Bellvista and Bells Reach Community Association and the Landsborough School of Arts Memorial Hall.

Each month or so I head along to the Bellvista and Bells Reach Community Association committee meetings and it’s great to hear how engaged and active the committee is.

Their goal is to share their community’s voice, protect their local environment, foster a sense of belonging, share information and contribute to the well-being of their community.

They also hold quarterly public meetings where everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend.

If you live in the Bellvista and Bells Reach community and you’re interested in joining, membership is free and new members are always welcome. You can find out more at bellvista.com.au or come along to the next public meeting on November 2 at the Bellvista Meeting Place.

In Landsborough, the dedicated Landsborough School of Arts Memorial Hall committee has worked hard over many years to secure grant funding and undertake big renovation projects at the hall.

Built in 1927, the hall is a wonderful historical asset for the Landsborough township. In the past it hosted dances and community meetings, it’s even been a picture theatre. Now, the hall hosts fitness classes, community events, church meetings and the weekly Saturday markets – a must visit if you’re in the Landsborough area. The hall is also available for hire.

I do my best to regularly attend their committee meetings to hear/discuss their progress on the refurbishments and their support of a wide program of activities in and around this lovely heritage building.

You can find out more about the hall at landsboroughhall.org.au
