I am proud to announce that we have an award winning community facility within the Division.

The Kawana Forest Meeting Place recently took out first place in the Master Builders Queensland Awards ‘Sporting and Community Facilities up to $5million’ category for the Sunshine Coast region.

We now cross our fingers as regional winners will be short-listed and re-evaluated against all other regional winners, with State winners revealed in September.

Caloundra West Community Centre

The communities of Bellvista and Bells Reach now have a new meeting place to call their own following a land/asset swap negotiated by council with developer Stockland.

Centrally located on Lomond Crescent, the ‘up-purposed’ former sales office provides an excellent indoor/outdoor, multi-function space for locals to use for a range of community activities.

It’s taken a close collaboration with the Bellvista community for some years to get here, but I seriously believe it has been worth everyones' effort.

Out and About

I recently spent a morning in Kawana Forest greeting residents and listening to suggestions for the area.

Some of the items raised included vegetation maintenance on Woodlands Bvd to improve the visual appearance at the entrance to the estate; branding and promoting the meeting place; and some traffic management and maintenance issues on roads in and near to the estate.
