Creating great outdoor places and spaces for Division 6 residents

I love nothing more than seeing families and friends enjoying an active and healthy lifestyle together, whether that be kicking a ball, swinging in the park or enjoying a picnic. Local parks are at the heart of our communities, so it is important to bring some of our older parks up to scratch. With that in mind, I’m very excited to see work commencing at Windmill Park, Sippy Downs. The park upgrades will include a new basketball court, new pathways to connect existing paths, a new shelter with upgraded BBQ facilities as well as landscaping and planting. I’m positive this park upgrade will be a welcomed addition to the Sippy Downs community, with works expected to be completed by late June (weather permitting). Creating great outdoor spaces for residents to actively enjoy is top of my priority list and local projects like this demonstrate my continued commitment to making Division 6 more family-friendly and community focused.

Time to roast and toast

With temperatures dropping, there’s nothing nicer than getting out the marshmallow sticks and having a backyard fire. While our council permits fires in urban and residential areas, it’s important to be conscious of your neighbours. If you’re planning to get out the fire pit, please make sure you only use dry, untreated wood so that you don’t cause a smoke issue for yourself or your neighbours.

Stay safe and warm,

Cr Christian Dickson.
