A pedometer (step counter) is a motivational tool that counts your steps throughout the day monitoring physical activity levels.
Division 12 Councillor Lew Brennan said Sunshine Coast Council in partnership with Queensland Health, Heart Foundation Walking and Travelsmart were pleased to offer this free health and wellbeing resource to everyone.
"Anyone with a library card can borrow a pedometer from any local library for free and start enjoying the benefits of walking," he said.
"Enjoy using your loaned pedometer on one of 70 free Heart Foundation Walks occurring across the Sunshine Coast each week including monthly moonwalks and pram walks.
"Several smaller amounts of exercise can add up quickly contributing to health benefits."
Work towards a healthy heart by borrowing a free pedometer kit which includes a pedometer, general instructions on how to best use a pedometer, Heart Foundation Walking program information, Travelsmart information and 10,000 Steps Walking log to use and keep.
Heart Foundation Walking also provides a chance to meet new friends or spend time with family while enjoying the health benefits of fresh air and physical activity.
Visit or call your local library today for more information and to reserve a pedometer kit.
