The Sunshine Coast launch of RACQ Get Ready Week on October 12 will double as an official opening for the new Woombye SES premises and provide an opportunity for the community to speak with emergency services about preparedness, take a look at new SES rescue vehicles and enjoy a sausage sizzle.

Attendees will also enter the draw to win a fully stocked emergency kit.

Mayor Mark Jamieson, who will officially launch Get Ready Week, said it was important residents and businesses owners prepared for the storm season now.

“Storm season is almost here and we need to ensure the Sunshine Coast is ready for potentially dangerous weather,” Mayor Jamieson said.

“It’s easy to be complacent when the weather is as great as it has been recently, but things can change quickly.

“Even a small amount of preparation now can potentially save lives, time and money in the event of a natural disaster.

“We also encourage residents to visit council’s Disaster Hub website, which provides all the helpful information you need to be prepared for and informed during a disaster event.”
