Join Talk Plus Allied Health Centre speech pathologist Melissa Matthews at the free Communication Development sessions at Sunshine Coast Council’s library branches throughout April and May.

According to Melissa, the development of language skills from birth to five years of age builds the foundation for literacy.

“People can discover ideas to help promote their child’s speech and language skills through everyday activities and play,” she said.

“I will highlight what to expect in your child's development and how to identify 'red flags' when parents should seek support from a speech pathologist.

“I will provide information to care givers on how to access speech pathology support if needed.

“Anyone who is caring for young children under five is encouraged to attend the library sessions to find out how to help them achieve their best speech, language, literary and communication skills for life.”
