Delegates representing the municipality of Xiamen, China, will be visiting the Sunshine Coast on Sunday, accompanied by a Chinese media entourage including Star Television.
The Coast is one of only a handful of Australian locations the delegation will visit, in what is a whirlwind tour.
It will present a perfect opportunity for Sunshine Coast Council and Sunshine Coast Destinations to let the Chinese nation know that, despite some media reports, not all of Queensland was devastated by the January floods – and we are open for tourism and business.
A breakfast is taking place at The Edge Restaurant, in Montville’s Mayfield Centre, from 8am, with photo and interview opportunities from 9am.
Deputy Mayor Tim Dwyer will act as MC accompanied by local Divisional Councillor and Community Policy and Programs Portfolio Holder Jenny McKay.
Roger Loughnan, Montville Chamber of Commerce President, will welcome the delegation to the hinterland and representatives from Sunshine Coast Destination will be present.
Cr McKay will be available by telephone over the Easter break prior to the breakfast for any enquiries.
