Children love the new lounge donated by Friends of Maleny Library

Families visiting the junior area of Sunshine Coast Council’s Maleny Library can now sit back and enjoy a comfy read thanks to the Friends of Maleny Library who have donated a new red, two-seater lounge.

Division 5 Councillor Jenny McKay said on behalf of council she would like to thank the Friends of Maleny Library for their ongoing support.

“The Friends are a group of enthusiastic supporters who promote the library service, advocate on its behalf and work to strengthen the library’s links with the local community,” Cr McKay said.

“The Friends have a monthly book sale on the first Saturday of each month and all funds raised are put back into supporting the library.

“The latest purchase includes a comfy new red lounge for the junior area of the branch.

“Parents, children and staff have since been enjoying this beautiful new addition and it is the centrepiece of our regular Storytime and Baby Rhymetime sessions, as well a great place for parents to relax and read with their children.”

Friends of Maleny Library are volunteers and hold their meetings at 9am on the first Thursday of the month at Maleny Library. All are welcome to attend and join this passionate group making a difference.
