Local residents and businesses are invited to celebrate Disability Action Week with a range of activities and events on offer across the region.

The program runs from November 25 to December 2, with this year’s theme being Access ignites: it’s good business.

Community Portfolio Councillor David Law said the week acknowledged the important contribution people living with a disability made in all aspects of life.

“The week gives us a chance to empower people with disability, develop a shared understanding of disability issues and improve access and inclusion throughout the wider community,” Cr Law said.

“There are heaps of activities to get involved in and challenge you.

“People can try their hand at sailing, surfing, wheelchair rugby, wheelchair basketball, laughter yoga, attend a theatre show, visit an art display or come along to a Disability Inclusive Emergency Preparedness Session.

“Everyone is welcome and invited to attend.”

For more information, view all the activities planned on Council’s website.
