Come and celebrate the new-look Caloundra Library with a special cake and live music when the refurbished contemporary and vibrant space will be officially unveiled at 10.30am on Monday, July 10.

Division 2 Councillor Tim Dwyer said Sunshine Coast Libraries were one of council’s most visible and highly valued services to the community.

“There is no doubt continued investment in libraries is pivotal to their positive influence on our communities,” Cr Dwyer said.

“As the second most visited library in the Sunshine Coast network, the new Caloundra Library layout is better able to accommodate our growing population.

“The refurbishment complements the recently updated foyer at the front entrance to the library and provides inviting contemporary and vibrant spaces for people to enjoy.

“Some of the improvements include new laptop and tablet spaces, casual and comfy seating to use the free Wi-Fi and the youngest library members don’t miss out with the beach hut-themed reading nooks and an outdoor courtyard.

“I encourage the community to join me on July 10 to celebrate this milestone and enjoy live music and morning tea.”

Community Portfolio Councillor Jenny McKay said the Sunshine Coast Libraries Plan 2014-2024 outlined council’s commitment to investing in library operations and infrastructure to ensure they remain relevant and responsive to our diverse communities.

“The modern-day library is an important community hub, a hive of activity that brings people from all walks of life together,” Cr McKay said.

“Council libraries are heading into the future, creating a more dynamic, multi-purpose environment for learning and recreation – and the newly refurbished Caloundra Library is a great example of this.”
