Celebrate Australia Day at Kings Beach

Thousands of people are expected to join Sunshine Coast Council’s Australia Day community event at Kings Beach on 26 January to celebrate in true blue Aussie-style.

A great day of family fun is planned from 7am to 2pm with live entertainment to suit all tastes and ages including the Bananas in Pyjamas stage show and Shaun the Sheep meet and greet for youngsters.

Extra barbecues will be available for public use at Rolling Surf Park but if you can’t be bothered bringing your own then make sure you enjoy a sausage from the Aussie sausage sizzle organised by local clubs at Lions Park – who can resist the smell of a banger on the barbie?

Local bands including The Twine, Matt James, the Fingerprints and the Floating Bridges will be sure to keep picnickers entertained throughout the day. There will also be free face painting from 9am to 1pm and the $5 rides on the goldmine slide, rock-climbing wall, high flyer, jumping castle and ferris wheel are sure to be popular.

This community, alcohol and glass free family event is a great way to celebrate Australia Day safely and responsibly.

Take advantage of the free parking at both the Transit Centre in Cooma Terrace and in Queen Street near the Caloundra High School. A free shuttle bus will run continually from 9am until 3pm from these locations enroute to Kings Beach
