Caloundra boat ramp angling for an upgrade

The popular boat ramp at Caloundra’s Maloja Ave is about to undergo an upgrade and will be out of action for four weeks during construction.

Division 2 Councillor Tim Dwyer said the concrete ramp would be extended and strengthened for durability.

“Construction will start in the week of April 27 and in addition to the ramp extension, there will be quite a bit of underground work to ensure it lasts long into the future for our community to enjoy,” Cr Dwyer said.

“This is just one of many recreational infrastructure projects Council is delivering this financial year as part of its $111 million Capital Works Program.”

Cr Dwyer said construction would be done during the lowest tides of the year.

“Thankfully our lowest tides coincide with a time when most people are back at work after the Easter holidays, which means construction will be easier for Council, and inconvenience will be minimised for residents and visitors,” he said.

“I know there will be some inconvenience for our keen fishermen and women, so I would like to thank people in advance for their patience – I’m sure the improved ramp will be worth the wait.”

The nearby boat ramps on Short St (off Landsborough Pde) and Churchill St (near the Caloundra Power Boat Club) are suggested for use during the Maloja Ave closure.
